Theres something about safety in numbers,
whether it’s money friends or lovers.
Somewhere safe to keep your treasures,
diamonds, trinkets, chains and feathers.
I keep the road in sight as everything around me dies,
and the owls are all placing their bets.
I wouldn’t bet on me,
all i’ve done is cost you dearly.
I’ve never held the hands of lady luck.
I never was a man to gamble,
though there never was much on my table.
Sometimes the juice is in the laughter,
in the sunshine on a summers afternoon.
I keep the road in sight as everything around me dies,
and the owls are all placing their bets.
I wouldn’t bet on me,
all i’ve done is cost you dearly.
I’ve never held the hands of lady luck.
Now the story’s lost it’s binding,
stretched and torn all of it’s meaning.
But i’ll dance within the pages,
to the tune of lady lucks fingers.
On her old flute, she plays a tune
that keeps my worries on the move,
as everything passes in and out of insight.
And there’s not much i can do,
a puppets strings are firmly glued
as i dance around her will and lullaby.
I keep the road in sight as everything around me dies,
and the owls are out placing their bets.
I wouldn’t bet on me,
all i’ve done is cost you dearly.
I’ve never held the hands of lady luck.
